What drywall damage do you repair?

Most drywall damage in a lived in home is everyday wear. A doorknob that went through the wall, a furniture corner, a towel bar that pulled out, or a crack that keeps coming back over a door frame.

Can you fix a doorknob hole so it disappears?

Yes. A doorknob hole is cut back to a clean square, fitted with a new piece of drywall on solid backing, then taped, filled and feathered wide so there is no hump. Once it is sanded and primed it is ready for paint, and the outline should not show through.

Why do drywall cracks come back?

Cracks that return are usually at a seam or a corner of a door or window, where the house moves a little with temperature and humidity. Filling the crack with compound alone tends to fail. We open the crack, tape it so the joint is reinforced, and build the finish over the tape so it holds.

What are nail pops and can you fix them?

A nail pop is a small round bump or crack where a fastener has worked loose from the framing. We secure the panel with new screws beside the old fastener, set the old one, and refinish the spot so the bump is gone.

How is a drywall patch finished?

Every patch is built in thin coats. Tape goes over the seams, joint compound fills them, and each coat is feathered a little wider than the last. When it is dry we sand until you cannot feel the edge, then prime so paint soaks in evenly and the patch does not flash through.
